Time Travel

“It doesn’t work anymore.” My father said.

“Did it ever?” I asked.

“Yes, it all did. This and every machine worked. They all worked. The scientists, the computer companies, the programmers, they all made it work. Guided by greed, hungry for fame, it’s hard to blame them. They couldn’t help but take a bite out of the forbidden apple. Many thought it impossible. They did it alright. They hit their goal.

Come on, let’s get out of here. This place no longer has any purpose. We have to find a place to make camp for the night. Our water is getting low and we are running out of daylight. We have to keep up with our guard watches, at least for a while” He replied.

“How long will that take?” I asked.

My father went on to say, “I don’t know. Many don’t even know how to start a camp fire. Many have never even spent a night outdoors. Without their cars and smart phones they are lost. It won’t be long before the food runs out, before the bottled water runs out. They will turn on each other for a loaf of moldy bread. They will kill each other off. We on the other hand, we know how to hunt and fish. We can and will live off the land. We’ll lay low and wait it out. It’s amazing! All it took was a single direct hit from a sun flare for it all to come tumbling down. Time travel… yep, they actually made it happen. We are back in the stone age”.
